Terms of Service

Effective date: to be set at v1.0 launch.

These Terms govern your use of Living On Grace (“LOG”, “we”, “the App”). By using LOG you agree to them. If you don't, don't use LOG. There is no penalty either way.

1. The deal

LOG is a free, open-source, donation-supported app provided “as is.” It has no subscription, no paywall, no ads, and requires no account for its core features. We make no promises about uptime, future features, or specific outcomes from your use of it.

If LOG ever breaks for you, you may:

  • Restart it.
  • Reinstall it.
  • Email support@livingongrace.app.
  • Fork the source code and fix it yourself (it's MIT licensed).

You may not sue us for damages relating to your use of LOG. See § 7 and § 8 below.

2. Who can use LOG

Anyone aged 13 or older. If you are under 13, please don't use LOG — and ask a parent or guardian for help with your spiritual practice.

In jurisdictions where the digital-consent age is higher (e.g. 16 in some EU countries), the local minimum applies.

3. Your account (only if you enable sync)

If you enable cloud sync, you create an account with an email address (or sign in via Apple / Google).

You agree to:

  • Use a real email you control (so we can verify it).
  • Keep your password secure.
  • Notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.

We may suspend an account if it is being used to:

  • Attack our infrastructure.
  • Violate the Acceptable Use rules below.
  • Engage in unlawful activity.

Account suspension is rare and reversible on request.

4. Acceptable use

LOG is for personal spiritual reflection. You agree not to:

  • Use the app to threaten, harass, or harm any person (LOG has no social features, but the principle stands).
  • Reverse-engineer the cloud sync service for exploitation (the client is open source — you may study it freely).
  • Attempt to bypass donation flows in fraudulent ways.
  • Submit content (in journal notes, prayers, gratitude entries) that is unlawful in your jurisdiction.

Because journal/prayer/gratitude content is stored locally (or encrypted client-side if synced), we do not see what you write. This means we cannot moderate content — and we don't try.

5. Open source

The LOG client applications are released under the MIT License. You may:

  • Fork the code.
  • Modify it.
  • Self-host the sync service.
  • Distribute your own builds.

You may not:

  • Use the name “Living On Grace” or the logomark on your fork without permission.
  • Claim affiliation with the LOG project.
  • Bundle LOG inside another product without attribution.

6. Bible content

Bible text shown in the app is sourced from bible.helloao.organd is subject to each translation's copyright. We display verses for personal devotional use under fair-use principles. We do not redistribute translation corpora. If you are a translation rights-holder and have a concern, write to support@livingongrace.app.

7. “As is” — no warranty

LOG is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We are not:

  • A licensed counselor.
  • A therapist.
  • A pastor.
  • A medical or mental health professional.

If you are in crisis, please contact a crisis line, a trusted person, or emergency services in your area. LOG is not a substitute for human care.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to LOG is limited to the amount you have paid us — which, for almost everyone, is $0.

If you have donated, the limit is the amount of your donation, refunded.

9. Donations

Donations are voluntary. They:

  • Are not refundable except in cases of clear technical error (e.g. duplicate charge).
  • Do not entitle you to features, support, or services.
  • Do not create an investor relationship.

In-app tip-jar purchases are governed by the App Store / Play Store / AppGallery terms in addition to these.

10. Third-party services

LOG integrates with:

  • bible.helloao.org — Bible content (no account, anonymous).
  • Supabase — only if you enable sync.
  • Apple/Google/Huawei push services — only if you enable notifications.
  • Sentry — only if you enable crash reporting.
  • Bible.com (YouVersion) — for “Read more” deep links.

Each is governed by its own terms. We are not responsible for their actions but we have vetted them as compatible with our privacy posture.

11. Termination

You may stop using LOG at any time. We may discontinue LOG (or specific features) with reasonable notice, except where required by law or a critical security issue forces immediate action. If we discontinue, your local data remains on your device forever. The source code remains available on GitHub forever.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be:

  • Announced in-app on next launch.
  • Effective no sooner than 30 days after notice (except security-critical changes).
  • Recorded in the public decision log with a diff.

Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Tanzania(the maintainer's primary jurisdiction at launch), without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. If you are in the EU/UK, your local consumer protections apply where they are more protective.

Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith correspondence will be settled in the courts of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, except where mandatory local law requires otherwise.
